Manorteq ReadyProof is a pre-bagged concrete mix that simplifies the process of creating waterproof concrete, especially when only small quantities are needed for repairs or specialized applications. This single-component mix incorporates Xypex crystalline waterproofing technology to provide integral and long-lasting protection. ReadyProof meets the requirements of class R4 according to EN 1504-3, ensuring its suitability for demanding concrete repair projects.
Key Features:
- Xypex Technology Inside: The inclusion of Xypex technology provides inherent waterproofing capabilities, protecting the concrete from water penetration.
- Pre-Bagged Convenience: ReadyProof eliminates the need for precise on-site batching, ensuring consistent mix quality and simplifying the application process.
- Versatile Resistance: The cured concrete is waterproof and resistant to a variety of substances, including water, oil-based products, and organic solvents.
- Concrete Repair Focus: ReadyProof is specifically designed for concrete repair applications, adhering to EN 1504-3 principles.
Substrate Preparation
Proper substrate preparation is essential for the successful application and performance of Manorteq ReadyProof.
- Cleaning: The substrate must be thoroughly cleaned to remove any dust, loose particles, or contaminants that could interfere with adhesion. This includes removing any oil, grease, surface efflorescence, or other substances that may prevent the mortar from bonding correctly.
- Reinforcement: Any corroded reinforcement steel should be repaired to the satisfaction of the supervising engineer before applying ReadyProof.
- Surface Strength: The concrete surface layers must possess a minimum tensile strength of 1.5 MPa to ensure adequate bond.
- Substrate Suitability: Before applying Manorteq ReadyProof, carefully assess the substrate to confirm it’s suitable for receiving the mortar and will allow for a strong, cohesive bond. If the surface is unsuitable, consider using Manorteq AquaRend Fix-B or Fix-S to improve bonding, or employ other appropriate surface preparation techniques.
- Wetting: The concrete surface must be thoroughly and repeatedly wetted for a minimum of 120 minutes prior to applying Manorteq ReadyProof.
Preparation
Manorteq ReadyProof is a pre-bagged product that requires mixing with clean water before use.
- Mixing Equipment: It is recommended to use a low-speed mixer with forced circulation for optimal mixing. For smaller quantities, a propeller mixer attached to an electric drill can be used.
- Water Addition: Add 3.25 to 3.75 liters of clean water per 25 kg bag of Manorteq ReadyProof.
- Mixing Procedure:
- Initially, add the minimum amount of water to the dry mix and mix for approximately 5 minutes.
- Allow the mixture to rest for a few minutes and then mix again. The mixture will become more fluid during this second mixing.
- If the desired consistency is not achieved, add water in small increments, mixing and assessing the consistency after each addition. Do not exceed the maximum allowable water amount.
- Working Time: The mixed mortar has an open time of approximately 50 to 60 minutes at 20°C.
- Temperature Limitations: The substrate temperature and the ambient air temperature must be between +5°C and +35°C during application.
Important Note on Water Usage:
The amount of water used in the mix affects the mortar’s properties. While less water enhances waterproofing, more water is often needed for workability and ease of application. Therefore, carefully balance these requirements based on the specific project needs.
Application
Manorteq ReadyProof is applied using standard concrete application practices, including proper compaction and curing.
- Layering: When applying multiple layers, ensure the first layer is applied to avoid creating voids, especially behind reinforcement.
- Penetration: It is important to work the mortar into the pores and uneven areas of the substrate. This can be achieved using a short-haired flat paint brush or a toothed trowel.
- Adhesion: Proper adhesion of the first layer is critical for achieving good overall adhesion.
- Edge Detailing: Pay close attention to the edges of previously repaired areas to ensure proper compaction and eliminate trapped air or irregularities.
- Repair Sequence: Begin repairs at the deepest part of the damaged area, building up layers so that the final layer is continuous and uniform across the entire repair.
- Finishing: After the initial set, standard finishing techniques, such as smoothing with a wooden, steel, or polyurethane trowel, can be used.
- Wet Finishing: Wet surface finishing is not permitted.
Curing
Proper curing is essential to prevent premature drying and ensure the mortar achieves its optimal properties.
- Protection: Protect the applied mortar from direct sun, wind, and other conditions that accelerate evaporation.
- Curing Methods: Use appropriate curing methods to prevent early drying. Curing agents can be used to aid in this process.
- Curing Duration: Curing should continue for at least 3 days after application.
- Optimal Curing: The recommended curing method is to cover the repaired surface with continuously moistened geotextiles.
